About the RLP

The Roberto López Project is a polycultural orchestra presenting the original compositions of multi-instrumentalist, composer, and director Roberto López (artiste révélation Radio-Canada Musique 2010-2011). Roberto takes us through some adventurous fusions of tradition and modernity, in what he describes as Nu-Afro- Latin. The project captures the essence of traditional Latin rhythms in an urban and contemporary environment, encompassing styles such as Cumbia-Funk, Urban-Mambo, Boogaloo, Latin-Soul, Latin-Reggae, Colombian Pacific coast’s Currulao, Colombian Caribbean coast’s Porro Pelayero, and 70’s Salsa Dura… all mixed with a unique sound. Based in Montreal, band members include talented musicians originating from various parts of the Americas (Colombia, Brazil, Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico, El Salvador, Quebec and New-Brunswick).
