"Sounds like the second coming of Santana are delivered by Roberto C. Lopez, as he plays a searing electric guitar, passionate tiple, bass, keyboards and percussion... The sparks are flying!"

George W. Harris – JAZZ WEEKLY

"Latin Jazz has always been the music of inclusion and few embody this aspect of the music better than the Colombian-born Canadian composer and guitarist Roberto López. On Kaleido Strópico, his fifth album, Mr López showcases his exceptional gifts both as a composer and instrumentalist, the latter is especially highlighted by a heightened improvisational imagination. The considerable degree of balance and integration of melody, harmony and rhythm, of composition and improvisation, of exploration, individuality and tradition is impressively maintained throughout."

Raul da Gamma – LATIN JAZZ NETWORK

"Roberto López gives us a carefully and precisely crafted album, which paints a colorful musical itinerary that we only have to travel: from Bogotá to Havana to Montreal, to warm our hearts still under arctic air dome."

Tony Tremblay - ICI MUSIQUE

"It's not every day you can hear something that sounds familiar yet refreshing at the same time... The succession of constantly changing tropical patterns is refreshing, unlike anything that's come across my desk in quite a while. It pushes boundaries while honoring Lopez' rich heritage."

John A. Kereiff – HOT WAX ALBUMS

"Emotional and personal (Thanks to the addition of ambient sounds captured in the streets of Colombia), Kaleido strópico is a rewarding journey of great beauty."

Frédéric Bussières – POSTE D'ECOUTE

"A pachanguear is a Latin rock tune with a huge groove and a contagious rhythm."

About Kaleido strópico

For his latest project, Kaleido strópico (2019), Roberto explores Colombian grooves mixed with Funk and Soul horn lines, Motown inspired bass lines and Latin electric guitar. The unique sound, the mixed grooves and the original sonic landscape around the tunes, are a statement of the many influences in Roberto’s musical career. Kaleido strópico was nominated for world album of the year at the ADISQ 2019, nominated for world artist of the year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards 2019, and has been on the TOP 10 spots for over 21 weeks (and counting) on Canadian, American and Colombian radios, often on #1 position.
